A unique Kids' Theater Experience in beautiful Big Sur California

Stagekids! Staff

StageKids! Staff:

Jaime Arze is the Artistic Director and co-creator of the Stagekids! program. He has been involved in theater as an actor, director and producer for over thirty years. Originally from Bolivia, South America, he grew up near New York City, and attended Connecticut College and The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. In Los Angeles, where he resides, he has been a member of several distinguished theater companies including West Coast Ensemble, The Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, City Garage Theater and The Actors’ Gang. In 1998, two local Big Sur parents invited Jaime to join them in creating a summer theater program for kids. He has been involved with the program ever since.
“I have been visiting Big Sur for over twenty years, drawn to its natural beauty and wonderful sense of community, and it has become a second home for me. As an actor and as a teaching artist, the creation and continuance of Stagekids! has given me an opportunity to contribute to the arts community of Big Sur and the growth and development of its children.”

This year’s assistant directors are Djin Patch, Makiah Star Epstein and Kaili Alexander. Lila Epstein will be co-directing with Makiah our Sing and Dance Camp program which will occur just before Stagekids! kicks off. All of these young teaching artists have been participants in the StageKids! program since grade school and have come up the ranks as students, intern volunteers, paid interns and now members of our staff.
“StageKids is truly the definition of my childhood, and now as an assistant director it is my creative outlet, it is a challenge, and a learning experience, and probably will continue to be so for the rest of my life. I truly love this program and am dedicated to making sure kids will continue to get this for years to come.” -Makiah
